If you want to be able to pass a whiteboard interview where you have to code up a solution to some algorithm problem, this is required reading. The Effective Executive shows you how to block out time in audiobook week for the important work of thinking and prioritizing things. I highly recommend it. The average commute in the United States is about 25 minutes according to the US census bureau. If you compressed all this commuting into 40 hours a week, it would involve over 5 weeks of just sitting in a car. Clearly this is a huge opportunity to command your time. And thankfully, the barriers to entry for excellent, value added content while on the road have never been lower. If you have a phone or media player and some cheap headphones, you have all you need to improve your knowledge while on the road. I am a big fan of audio learning material, because you can really tap into unused time that you would otherwise spend listening to music or just mind wandering. Any audiobooks that would help me become a better programmer would be appreciated.
