This week, BBC1 is offering us another riveting drama, My Mother and Other Strangers , starring Hattie Morahan, which underlines the extent to which relationships are placed under intense strain by the war. A giant American airbase has just landed in a rural corner of Northern Ireland. Its 4, airmen inevitably have an enormous effect on this remote part of the country. Rose Hattie Morahan, who starred in the aforementioned The Bletchley Circle is an English woman with three sparky children.

Elsie, the child, narrates the story of her relationship with her mother, Rachel. After her mother passes, she returns home to close the apartment and look for clues as to what drove Rachel. Soon after she arrives, someone breaks into the place and ransacks it. Elsie has no idea why. Rachel evidently hocked many pieces of jewelry — items Elsie never knew existed.


It was wonderful to write, the energy of the plot and the ambitious scope of the story made this novel a real page-turner. Still, but my heartache was that it had so many elements. Every single time. About Gina Sorell.

Terri Lewis is a writer looking for an agent who loves character-driven mither with a plot. Loading comments. It's about a woman finding herself, engrossing and deeply moving. Heart-wrenching.
