What does either a Red Herring a false or misleading clue or a White Elephant something use.

The Sword of Damocles, "Hey I bet you didn't know this". I certainly didn't realise the true meaning of the word "berk" and apologise to anyone I have said this to in the past herrlngs. Interesting book about the origins of common expressions. It did however fascinate us and was picked over constantly, the origin to ' hangs by a thread '.
